Photon Harvester Astrograph 300 F3 or F4,5

The telescope was custom built in 2013 by friends, enthousiastic astronomers and great constructors Martin Myslivec and Jaroslav Heršálek. Desired very fast newtonian telescope with focal ratio of F3 required considerable margins in the design of both mirror holders and adjustment mechanisms, in focuser unit, and last but not least the corrector clamping. All the attention was paid to the parts which might possibly introduce any misalignment of optical elements during the shooting session, the margins for the perfect alignment with the telescope of F3 have to be kept within axial error tolerance of 0,14mm when the telescopes moves around the skies. Therefore, rigid secondary holder spider was fitted to prevent flexing, the focuser was fitted with total of three  linear rails, and the corrector clamping mechanism was built to assure perfect alignment of correctors with focuser axis. The efforts were well worth it, the telescope is able to keep perfect collimation and focus throughout the entire night, depending of course on ambient temperature stability.

Basic features

  • designed for primary use with Astrosysteme Austria 0,73x corrector, secondary use with TeleVue Paracorr type II

  • 300mm F4 mirror Ulragrade produced by Orion Optics UK, fitted with fans for mirror cooling

  • secondary mirror with heating system

  • carbon tube, stability increased by additional metal construction inside of the tube

  • computer controlled 3" focuser based on GSO 3" Crayford focuser, improvements include three linear rails, temperature compensation

  • corrector/reducer lock system with zero tilt or offset with relation to the collimated optical path
