Our neighbor galaxy, Andromeda galaxy or M31. Similar shape but larger than Milky Way, moving towards us as fast as one million kilometers per hour. Predicted collision between the two giants will probably have devastating effect on the Earth. Nevermind, we have around billion years time to cope with the problem.
Another companion of the Milky Way, spiral galaxy M 33 in Triangulum. Note numerous hydrogen (magenta color) nuclei, and also clusters of bright young and hot bluish stars.
Seyfert galaxy in Ursa mayor. Seyfert galaxies are characterized by their very bright active core. The tiny group of galaxies close to the bottom of the field is called Hickson 56. It´s five members are interacting with each other in the distance of 400 million light years from Earth.
Strong source of radio signals, eliptical galaxy in Centaurus. Unlike majority of similar elipticals, this one features thick dust lane with visible regions of explosive star formation. Light from this galaxy travels to us more than 10 million years.
Massive galaxy cluster in Coma Berenices, around 1000 members in the distance of more than 300 million light years from Earth.
